Privacy concerns about Quebec’s medical e-record scheme

The computerization of Montreal’s three million medical records will start this spring, while the transition to e-records is slated to be over by 2015, some are warning about privacy and language concerns.

Privacy group wanting FTC to punish Google files lawsuit

Washington Post – Privacy advocates on Wednesday filed a federal lawsuit aimed at forcing government officials to punish Google over alleged privacy violations.

In the complaint, the Electronic Privacy and Information Center said Google’s plans to tie together data of users across services beginning March 1 violates a settlement agreement the company struck with the Federal Trade Commission last summer over a separate privacy controversy. Continue reading

Facebook’s delay in erasing photos deleted by users is ongoing privacy issue

Users who delete their Facebook accounts have found their photographs still on the internet years later. The proper procedure is to manually delete each photograph or other post to your wall before you delete your account.
